Vice-President, Strategic Initiatives and Corporate Development
As Vice-President, Strategic Initiatives and Corporate Development, Bernard Fortin plays a key role in defining fdp Private Management’s vision, mission and objectives. In conjunction with the President and CEO, and in concert with the Board of Directors, he provides leadership in the development of strategic plans to identify and seize growth opportunities for the firm. At the same time, he coordinates, assesses and adjusts complex project actions arising from the firm’s strategic orientations.
Mr. Fortin has extensive experience in financial services, having held various strategic management positions with Desjardins from 1997 to 2015 in the areas of business development and wealth management.
In addition to earning an Executive MBA in financial services from the Université du Québec à Montréal, he is a Fellow, Institute of Canadian Bankers (FICB) and holds a financial planning certificate from Université Laval as well as holding the title of financial planner. He also did doctoral studies in business administration with a major in management at Université Laval where he specialized in applied ethics. He has obtained the Fellow of Canadian Securities Institute designation. He also holds the dual designation C.Dir. (Chartered Director) from the Directors college and the ASC (Administrateur de sociétés certifiés) from the Collège des administrateurs de sociétés.
He is a member of the Ordre professionnel des administrateurs agréés du Québec. He was a member of the Institut de planification financière (IPF) Board of Directors from March 2020 to 2024 and served as Vice-Chair of the board from June 2020 to June 2022, and as Chair of the board for the 2022-2023 and 2023-2024 terms.
